โฆ Synopsis
The energy relations involved in the room-temperature tensile deformation of single crystals of silver have been measured by single-step calorimetry.
The data have been discussed in terms of theories of work hardening.
The stored energy values were found to be linearly related to the square of the shear stress, the constants of proportionality being dependent on the initial orientations of the crystals. An explanation of these effects is given in terms of the dislocation structure after deformation.
