The cardiac atria are known to play a role in blood volume homeostasis, secreting a peptide that induces a potent natriuresis and diuresis. This peptide is atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), and its primary site of storage is within atria-specific granules found in atrial cardiocytes. Since salt load
