## Abstract The phonon avalanche phenomenon is investigated using Zubarev's density‐matrix formalism. A system of differential equations is derived which determines the time dependence of the spin and phonon temperatures. This system essentially differs from that gained from simple rate equations.

## Abstract The theory of γ‐magnetic resonance (GMR) in paramagnetic crystals in the presence of electronic spin relaxation is discussed. A general expression for the GMR lineshapes applicable to the spectrum with or without quadrupole interactions is derived. The theory is applied to the calculati
