β¦ Synopsis
Among the five species of parrotfish studied, only large Sparisoma viride (and rarely large Scarus vetula) graze on live coral. Of the several species of corals grazed, Montastrea annularis is grazed most extensively, and variations in its form may be the result of grazing scars. Parrotfish feeding on algae a t the bases of the corals Madracis mirabilis and Porites porites break off the corals. This attack causes recession of the stands of M . mirabilis a t an average rate of 1 cm/month.

The effect of the ratio a/W on the values of 6i and Ji in a structural steel has been studied by measuring the crack-opening displacement and J-integral at initiation in three-point bend specimens with shallow and deep notches and by the finite element method. It is shown that the values of Si and J
## Abstract An attempt to explain the origin of the vivid red color in precious pink and red corals was undertaken. Raman and IR spectroscopies were applied to characterize white, pink and red corals. The position of the Raman signal near 1500 cm^β1^ of some corals and pearls was associated by seve
## Abstract A method is described for measuring lymphopoiesis that enables the production of recirculating and nonβrecirculating small lymphocytes to be estimated simultaneously. Using this technique, experiments were undertaken to determine whether the production of recirculating cells is influenc
