โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A method for quantitative determination of 7โ€oxocholesterol is described, and used for examining a number of wool waxes from different sources. The amount of free 7โ€oxocholesterol varies between 0ยท7 and 2ยท8%, and in addition 0ยท2โ€“3ยท9% occurs in the form of esters. Cholestenone is present only in traces. It is shown that at least part of the 7โ€oxocholesterol arises by autoxidation.

## Abstract Wool waxes, previously investigated for their general flow characteristics, were studied here for their thixotropic behaviour as a function of animal breed and geographical locality. The data obtained showed that the breed as well as the geographical locality of the animals have got a p
