✦ Synopsis
Racemic manganese(I1) (+)-1-malate t r i h y d r a t e c r y s t a l i z e s i n the space group Pcab, w i t h Z = 8 and a = 14.201(8), b = 14.656(4), c = 8.265(5)a.
The Mn-ion i s surrounded by s i x oxygen atoms forming an octahedron, s l i g h t l y d i s t o r t e d by the r i g i d i t y o f one malate ion, a c t i n g as a bidentate ligand. OOC-CH -CHOH-COO chain. The racemic manganese s a l t and i t s o p t i c a l l y a c t i v e counterpart are p r a c t i z a l l y equal i n terms o f the Mn-coordination and the geometrical d e t a i l s o f the malate anion.
