✦ Synopsis


Rotational and mass-resolved spectra of the (0, 0), ( 1,O) and (2, 0) bands of the A 'C: -X 'Z: transition of Cuz have been recorded using the resonant two-photon ionization (RZPI) technique in a cluster beam apparatus. This study was motivated by the anomalous electronic isotope shifts in the A-X and B-X systems proposed by earlier investigators. The existence of such shifts would immediately be revealed using the RZPI technique as the mass resolution gives spectra of the isotopomers in different mass channels. Lifetime measurements at low pressures (lo-' Torr) are also possible with this apparatus and improved results are reported for the A, B and C states.
