✦ Synopsis
Na2 molecules in the weakly bound lowest triplet state 1 'ZZz are formed in a cold supersonic argon beam seeded with sodium. They are excited by a tunable cw Ti: sapphire laser into levels of the 1 'Xl state which are ionized by an argon ion laser. From a vibrational analysis of the resonant two-photon ionization (RTPI) spectrum the constants T,= 17972 k 4 cm-', CU.= 100.5 f 0.9 cm-' and w.x.=O.57 f0.03 cm-' are obtained for the Nal (1 'Xi ) state.
