The Rydberg-Klein-Rees potential curve of the 3 1 P g state which covers the internuclear distance from 3.59926 to 6.76571 A ˚is constructed from the experimentally determined B £ and G(£) values. The predicted exotic shape (change in slope outside Ç5.7 A ˚) agrees with the experimental results. The

✦ Synopsis
Using a homemade ultrasensitive space charge limited ion detector, the K 2 singlet gerade states (7-9 1 S / g and 4 1 P g ) were observed for the first time. The exotic potential of the double minimum 7 1 S / g state was constructed using a hybrid approximation method. The molecular constants and the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) potential curve for the 9 1 S / g state were obtained. The 8 1 S / g and 4 1 P g states were partially characterized.

The 2 1 P g state of 39 K 2 , which dissociates to the 4s / 3d asymptote, has been observed for the first time via the intermediate levels of the A 1 S / u (£ Å 1-12) state using high-resolution cw optical-optical double resonance excitation spectroscopy. The molecular constants of the previously unobserved 5 and \(6^{\prime} \Sigma_{g}^{+}\)states of \(K_{2}\) are determined and the potential curves are constructed using the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) method. The absolute vibrational numbering of the \(5^{\prime} \Sigma_{8}^{+}\)state is obtained by c
Optical-optical double resonance spectroscopy was used to study the 1 g ( 3 P 1 ) ion-pair state of I 2 correlating to I -( 1 S) + I + ( 3 P 1 ) at the dissociation limit. We gained access to the 1 g ( 3 P 1 ) state though the A 3 (1 u ) state in the (1 + 1) photon-excitation scheme. The pump laser
We report the analysis of the H1 u ( 3 P 1 ) state of I 2 by optical-optical double resonance. This state lies in the second tier of ion-pair states and its observation was achieved by using the (1 ϩ 2) photoexcitation sequence using the A 3 ⌸ 1u state as an intermediate. The molecular parameters we
Two new pairs of singlet-triplet A 1 ⌺ u ϩ ϳ b 3 ⌸ u mixed levels of 7 Li 2 have been observed and used here as "window" levels in cw perturbation-facilitated optical-optical double-resonance (PFOODR) experiments. Previously, only one b 3 ⌸ u vibrational level, v ϭ 19, was known to mix with the sing
