Electron transmission spectroscopy is utilized to determine the energies of the temporary anions of chlorobenzene and the di-and tri-chlorobenzenes. The ET spectra, the results of a simple model accounting for the resonance and inductive effects of the chlorines, and ab initio calculations all indic
