## Abstract There is some evidence that research productivity is positively associated with teaching effectiveness, as measured by student achievement. In this chapter, the author examines whether research activity actually enhances certain pedagogical skills and thus increases student learning.
## Abstract The authors summarize points made in the volume and conclude that, with few exceptions, research activity does not hinder faculty from meeting the educational needs of students as clients of undergraduate college teaching. They also offer recommendations for practice and research.
