Abstract
The structure previously proposed for methyl jasmonate (methyl cis‐2‐pent‐2′‐enyl‐3‐oxo‐cyclopentylacetate, an odoriferous component of jasmine oil) has been proved by synthesizing the dihydro‐derivative, viz. Methyl 2‐pentyl‐3‐oxo‐cyclo‐pentylacetate.
