✦ Synopsis

Abstract

[thiazolium‐2,2′‐^14^C~2~]‐SAR97276A, a bis(thiazolium) antimalarial development candidate, was synthesized from [^14^C]‐thiourea with an overall radiochemical yield of 15%. The synthetic route involves a modified procedure for the synthesis of [^14^C]‐sulfurol, also a key intermediate in thiamine synthesis, which was developed due to unlabelled chemistry proving irreproducible with the radiolabelled substrate. ## Abstract [1‐^14^C]‐2,2‐Difluoroethene was synthesized from [^14^C]‐formaldehyde using a modification of the Wadsworth‐Emmons reaction, __via__ formation of the intermediate (EtO)~2~P(O)CF~2~^14^CH~2~OSiMe~3~. This highly volatile product was collected in a liquid nitrogen trap at a purity of >97
