β¦ Synopsis
When preparation of optically active synthetic intermediate is attempted by ordinary chemical resolution of racemic compound, maximum 50% of the resolution substrate can only be utilized for further synthetic scheme. Aiming to overcome this inefficiency, the authors have developed the new methodology 192) which recommends utilization of'syrrmetrically functionalized meso-compound as a resolution substrate in place of racemic modification.

## Abstract The indene derivative 7 and the 1,2,2,3βtetrasubstituted cyclopentane derivative 8 have been synthesized in three steps starting from the HajosβWiechert ketone 1. magnified image
Cyclic dienaminones, synthesized from the a-carbon elongation reaction of cyclic ketones with vinamidinium salts, are useful synthetic intermediates to carbocyclic Spiro compounds. The list of naturally occurring carbocyclic Spiro compounds continues to grow, and as it does, the need for useful inte
