The method relies on the reactivity of trivaleni8phosphorus toward hydrolysis and oxidation to produce dimethyl [ 03]- phosphorochloridate with a minimal excess of labeled water. This chlorophosphate diester can be used to prepare a wide variety of phosphate monoesters where the three peripherial oxygens are labeled
