✦ Synopsis


Three new lanthanide (Ln)-alkylaluminium (Al) bimetallic complexes with the formula [(p-CF,CO,),Ln(p-CF,CHO2)AlR2 2THF], (Ln = Nd, Y, R = i-C4H, (i-Bu); Ln = Eu, R = C2H5(Et); THF = tetrahydrofuran) were synthesized by the reaction of Ln(CF,CO,), (Ln=Nd, Y) with HA1 (i-Bu), and of Eu(CF,CO,), with AlEt,, respectively. Their crystal structures were determined by X-ray diffraction at 233 K.

[(p-CF,CO,),Nd (p-CF,CHO,)Al(i-Bu), -2THF], (Nd-Al) and [(p-CF,CO, ),Y (pCF,CHO, )Al(i-Bu), 2THFI2 (Y-AI) are isomorphous and crystallize in space group PI with a = 12.441(3) 4 [12.347(5) for b = 12.832(3 A [12.832(4) A], c = 11.334(3) p=98.47(2)" [98.81(4)"], y=64.60(2)" [64.30(3)"], R=0.519 [0.113], Rw=0.0532 [0.110], Z = 1 and [(p-CF,CO, ),Eu(CF, CH02)AlEt2 * 2THF],(Eu-A1) in space group P2,ln with a = 11.913(6) A, b = 14.051(9) A, ~=17.920(9) A, a= 101.88(11)", p= y=90", R=0.0509, Rw=0.0471 and Z=2. The six CF,CO; (including CF,CHO; ) of each complex, among which pairs are equivalent, coordinated to Ln and Al in three patterns: (A) the two oxygen atoms in one of the three CF,CO, type coordinated to two different Ln; (B) the two oxygen atoms in the second of CF,CO; type coordinated to Ln and Al, respectively; (C) one of the two oxygen atoms in the third CF,CO; type bidentately coordinated to two Ln and another oxygen y-A! k [11.292(8) d I, a= 104.93 (2)" [104.45(4)"], * Crystallographic data and structure factors for the synthesized complexes
