A short and stereoselective synthesis o f hexadeuterated hexest r o l is described, involving catalytic hydrogenation o f -2-3,4-di-(4-methoxyphenyl) hex-3-ene-l , 1,1,6,6,6-H6 followed by demethylation using sodium thioethoxide in dimethyl formamide.
