✦ Synopsis

A simple procedure for the synthesis of chiral acetic acids has been developed. The key step is an enzymatic exchange reaction which introduces 'H from 'H-labeled water into ethane I ,2diol. The method involves no resolution of racemic intermediates and the products are of high specific radioactivity and optical purity.
