Synthetic procedures f o r t h e p r e p a r a t i o n o f carbon-14-labeled sodium palmoxirate (TDGA). l a b e l e d e i t h e r i n t h e carboxyl p o s it i o n or i n t h e t e t r a d e c y l hydrocarbon chain, a r e described. I n a d d i t i o n , t h e synthesis o f t h e coenzyme A e s t e r o f TDGA-14C w i t h a s p e c i f i c a c t i v i t y o f 51 mCi/Rmol i s reported. The coenzyme A e s t e r was prepared by formation o f t h e a c y l c h l o r i d e w i t h o x a l y l c h l o r i d e f o l l o w e d by r e a c t i o n w i t h coenzyme A (CoA) i n a borate-buffered t e t r a h y d r o f u r a n s o l u t i o n . P u r i f i c a t i o n methods and a n a l y t i c a l and s t a b i l i t y data a r e reported f o r t h e compounds.
