Abstract

Preparation of the title compound, tracer substances required for the development of the fasciollide clorsulon, is described. The ringโ€uโ€^14^C variety was obtained in 42.2% yield overall from purchased [ringโ€uโ€^14^C]acetophenone.

## Abstract Carbonโ€14 labeled vigabatrin was synthesized in 5 steps from 5โ€hydroxymethylโ€2โ€pyrrolidone tosylate and NaCNโ€[^14^C]. A key step involved reduction of the resulting nitrile in the presence of excess dimethylamine to give the dimethylaminoโ€ethyl 2โ€pyrrolidone derivative in one step. This

Clomiphene, 2-[4-(2-chloro-1,2-diphenylethenyl)phenoxy~-N.N- diethylethanamine, an antiestrogen, is a nonsteroidal triphenylethylene derivative. For the successful synthesis of carbon-14 labeled clomiphene it is essential to have a free radical inhibitor in the reaction medium.
