Abstract
The usefulness of hexa‐2,5‐diyn‐1‐ol as an intermediate in the synthesis of arachidonic acid, poly‐yn alcohols and docosa‐4,7,10,13,16,19‐hexaynoic acid is demonstrated. Difficulties in the partial reduction of the latter product to the corresponding all cis‐hexaenoic acid are described.

## Abstract The preparation of (all Z)‐1,17‐dichloro‐4,7,10,13‐heptadecatetraene is reported. The synthesis was performed in five steps with a total yield of 22 %, starting from 5‐chloro‐1‐pentyne. The corresponding bis Grignard reagent was used in a copper‐mediated coupling reaction with [1‐^11^C]
Low-voltage-activated (l-v-a) and high-voltage-activated (h-v-a) Ca2+ currents (ICa) were recorded in whole-cell voltage clamped NG108-15 neuroblastoma x glioma hybrid cells. We studied the effects of arachidonic acid (AA), oleic acid, myristic acid and of the positively charged compounds tetradecyl
Epiceanothic acid (1) is a naturally occurring, but very rare pentacyclic triterpene with a unique pentacyclic triterpene (PT) structure. An efficient synthesis of 1 starting from betulin (3) has been accomplished in 12-steps with a total yield of 10% in our study. Compound 1 and selected synthetic
