Pyrylium Salts of ฮณ-Thiapyrones -A Simple Step to Phosphonophosphino Substituted Pyridines and Pyridinium Salts. -The recently reported pyrones (I) are easily converted to pyrylium salts (III). These [cf. (IIIa)] are converted to pyridines or pyridinium salts with ammonia or primary amines.
