The synthesis of a photolabile 4-(Z-Chloropropionyl)phenylacetoxy-polyethylene glycol support and its application in liquid phase peptide synthesis is described. A protected pentapeptide is prepared and removed quantitatively from the support by irradiation at 350 nm.
