✦ Synopsis
1,P-dihydroxy-[30-14C]9-anthrone (anthralin) was synthesized in qood yield startinq from readily available 3-methoxy-2-(2-methoxybenzyl) -benzoic acid (2).
14C was introduced via carboxylation of the Griqnard derived from 3-bromo-2(2-methoxybenzyl) anisole. This, in turn, was obtained from (3) by a Curtius and Sandmeyer reaction sequence.

## Abstract A convenient procedure to synthesize 2–^14^C‐dinitroso‐hexahydropyrimidine (DNHP) is described. The synthesis begines with the condensation of ^14^C‐formaldehyde and propylenediamine‐1,3 in benzene with azeotropic removal of water. The resulting bases are isolated from the reaction mixt
