We have recently describedl,2 the synthesis and potent anti-herpes virus activity of 9-(3-hydrcqpropcxy)guanine Q), the first reported member of a series of canpounds in which the ribose moiety of a nucleoside is replaced by an wlic substituent linked to ths heterocyclic base through a nitrogewrxygen baxl. In this prblication ws report the preparation of analcqus derivatives of the pyrimidine nucleosidebases uracil, thymine and cytosine (2-7).
