โฆ Synopsis
Four novel Ru(II) complexes [Ru(L) 2 amtp] 2+ [L = 2,2 0 -bipyridine (bpy, 1); 4,4 0 -dimethyl-2,2 0 -bipyridine (dmb, 2); 1,10-phenanthroline (phen, 3); 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmp, 4); amtp = 3-amino-1,2,4-triazino[5,6-f]1,10-phenanthroline] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, 1 H NMR and mass spectrometry. The electrochemical and photophysical properties of the Ru(II) complexes were intensively investigated. Electrochemical data together with molecular calculations show that the first redox process in these complexes is amtp based. Complexes 1, 2 and 3 display luminescence in CH 3 CN that were found to be very sensitive to the presence of traces of H 2 O.

Two new chiral ruthenium(II) complexes D-[Ru(bpy) 2 (nfip)] 2+ and K-[Ru(bpy) 2 (nfip)] 2+ (in which bpy = 2,2 0 -bipyridine, nfip = 2-(5-nitrofuran-2-yl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, ES-MS, 1 H NMR and CD spectra. The binding
A series of substituted pyrazino[2,3-f][1,10]-phenanthroline (Rppl) ligands (with R Me, COOH, COOMe) were synthetized (see 1 ยฑ 4 in Scheme 1). The ligands can be visualized as formed by a bipyridine and a quinoxaline fragment (see A and B). Homoleptic [Ru(R 1 ppl) 3 ](PF 6 ) 2 and heteropleptic [Ru(
