β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
The synthesis of a protein unique to the nervous system, the βS100βprotein,β has been studied in a clonal line of rat glial cells. It has been shown that these cells do not begin to accumulate βS100βproteinβ until the cultures enter a phase of densityβdependent inhibition of cell proliferation. Further experiments indicate that the regulation of βS100βproteinβ accumulation resides at least in part in an interaction involving the cell surface.

## Abstract Glial cells, in both vertebrate and invertebrate nervous systems, provide an essential environment for developmental, supportive, and physiological functions. However, information on glial cells themselves and on glial cell markers, with the exception of those of __Drosophila__ and othe
Modulation of protein synthesis by fragments of the ACTH molecule has been studied in a cell-free system obtained from subcortical brain tissue of rats. Both the activity of the protein-synthesizing system and its sensitivity to ACTH-like peptides appeared to be highly dependent on the Mg2+ and sper
## Abstract In this work, it was discovered that the stability of mRNA in a cellβfree extract could be controlled by using engineered T7 terminator sequences. Specifically, it was found that mRNA stability gradually decreased as the length of the stem structure of the T7 terminator was reduced sequ
