✦ Synopsis
Sb 2 O(CH 3 PO 3 ) 2 (1) and NH 4 (SbO) 3 (CH 3 PO 3 ) 2 (2) were synthesized by hydrothermal methods and their structures solved from powder and single-crystal X-ray di4raction data, respectively. 1 is monoclinic, space group P2 1 /c (No. 14) with a ؍ 4.7569(3) A s , b ؍ 19.944(1) A s , c ؍ 9.9147(5) A s , ؍ 95.292(5)3, V ؍ 936.60(6) A s 3 , Z ؍ 4. 2 is triclinic, space group P1 (No. 2) with a ؍ 6.915(2) A s , b ؍ 9.506(3) A s , c ؍ 9.800(3) A s , ؍ 105.254(5)3, ؍ 94.206(5)3, ؍ 90.807(5)3, V ؍ 619.4(3) A s 3 , Z ؍ 2. Both structures contain 3-rings made from corner-sharing [SbO 4 E] and [CH 3 PO 3 ] polyhedra. 1 is a layered material, while 2 is a solid made of nanotubes containing building motifs related to the spiro-5 units found in some [TO 4 ]-based open frameworks.
