โœฆ Synopsis


The synthesis of a new bifunctional ligand l-(4-carboxymethoxybenzyl)-N,N'-bis[(2mercapto-2,2-dimethyl)ethyl]-l,2-ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic acid (B6SS) is described. It consists of substitution of a side-chain, a 4-carboxymethoxybenzyl group on a carbon atom of the ethylenediamine moiety of a hexadentate iigand, 6SS, which has been found to have a very high affinity for In(lll). Potentiometric determination of Ga(IIl) and In(Ill) chelate stabilities of the bifunctional ligand show that the side-chain on the ligand reduces the pM values about 2-4 log values.
