✦ Synopsis
A short and efficient synthesis of the two enantiomeric iron-complcxed phosphonium salts (+)-1 and (-)-2 is described. Upon reaction with the chiral fotmyloxirane 3, the corresponding chiral ylides exhibit quite difietent mactivities. Few examples of Wittig-type reactions with phosphotus or sulphur stabilized anions in a chhul environment are to be found in the chemical literature. The introduction of the chirahty has been performed in three different ways using either derivatives with chiml phosphorus or sulfur atoms 1 or compounds with chital ligands directly linked to the stabihxing atom * or, even more rare (only one example 3), a reagent
