✦ Synopsis

The synthesis, antibacterial activity and DHP-susceptibility of a series of novel 2-vinyl carbapenems is described. Carbapenems having a 1'-substituted vinyl moiety at the 2 position were found to be very stable toward DHP-1, displaying comparable stability to compounds with a 1 ~-methyl functionality.

Three prostaglandin endoperoxide analogs that possess the 2,3-diazabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane skeleton were synthesized and evaluated for activity in human platelets and in the rat fundus. All three compounds were inactive in inhibiting or stimulating platelet aggregation. One compound possessed weak con
