## Abstract By folding a metallic strip onto a foam base, a low‐cost surface‐mount monopole antenna suitable for GSM/DCS dual‐band operation is presented. The antenna has a compact size of 33 × 7.5 × 7.5 mm^3^ and requires no isolation distance to the system ground plane when surface‐mounted to the

✦ Synopsis
A new concept is proposed: the surface-mounted antenna ( ) component SMAC . It is based on a three-dimensional radiating structure coupled to a feeding line. Examples are shown for broadband monopoles. Compared to the classical way of attaching such a structure, the manufacturing and trimming phases are lighter, while the o¨erall performances are maintained at almost the same le¨el. Matching ¨alues of better than 7 dB could be achie¨ed through a bandwidth of 3 GHz.

After introducing a surface-mounted component antenna concept with a single element, the authors propose its application in an array form. The proposed structures allow more degrees of freedom for trimming the pattern since each element can be placed by sliding it onto the feeding lines. Se¨eral exa
## Abstract In this paper, a surface‐mountable, reconfigurable monopole antenna was designed for array antenna operations in the DCS‐1800 and PCS‐1900 bands. First, the elementary structure was obtained by folding a metallic strip into a V‐shape, and then soldered to a 50‐Ω microstrip feed line pri
## Abstract A low‐profile planar vehicle antenna for the roof of a car is proposed for use with terrestrial services. Despite its low configuration, the proposed antenna can realize a vertical polarization. To demonstrate its performance, the proposed antenna is mounted on the roof of a mid‐sized v
## Abstract A low‐cost surface‐mount monopole antenna obtained by folding a metallic strip onto a low‐profile square‐disk foam base is presented. With a compact size of 10 × 10 × 2 mm^3^, the antenna can generate two separate wide resonant modes, with the lower mode covering the 2.4‐GHz WLAN band (
