✦ Synopsis

The bromine electrode in the ZnBr,-NaBr melts which gives a thermochemically meaningful electrode potential has been developed. Gold can be used as the electrode substrate, which is electrochemically stable in the presence of the bromine gas, and the electrocatalytic activity for the bromine electrode reaction seems to be. higher than that of carbon materials.

The overvoltage on the C. COP electrode in cryolite-alumina melts was studied by steady state current/voltage measurements using different types of carbon. For pyrolytic graphite Tafel slopes of 0.22 were found; regular graphites and baked carbon gave slopes in the range 0.23-0.28. For a reaction-co

Aluminium dissolved in cryolite-alumina melts migrates in the direction of the positive pole by passage of current . By a modified moving boundary technique the dissolved metal was found to separate into two zones with different mobilities . For the cryolite composition at 11100°C the apparent mobil

The cathodic reaction of the FeS, (pyrite) electrode in molten AICl,PNaCI electrolyte was studied by the nc impedance method. The faradaic components of the impedance for the FeS, electrode were considered to be the charge transfer, the surface reaction, and the diffusion processes. The faradaic imp
