โœฆ Synopsis

We have isolated, sequenced, and determined the chromosomal localization of the gene encoding human lymphotoxin (LT). The single copy gene was isolated from a human genomic library using a "P-labeled 116 bp synthetic DNA fragment whose sequence was based on the NHz-terminal amino acid sequence of LT. The gene spans 3 kb of DNA and is interrupted by three intervening sequences. The LT gene is located on human chromosome 6, as determined by Southern blot analysis of human-murine hybrid DNA. Putative transcriptional control regions and areas of homology with the promoters of interferon and other genes are identified.

## Abstract Oligonucleotide probes have been used to map the myeloperoxidase (__MPO__) gene locus to chromosome bands 17q21โ€“22. This is in agreement with results reported using conventional cDNA probes. No evidence for the existence of a second __MPO__ gene locus was obtained. Six synthetic 72โ€base

A cDNA encoding a novel protein has been previously isolated from two independent sources: melanoma cell cultures and chondrocytes. The protein from human melanoma cell lines and tumors is called melanoma inhibitory activity (MIA) (Blesch et al. [1994] Cancer Res. 54:5695-5701) and the protein from

Purโฃ is a 39-kDa sequence-specific single-stranded DNA/RNA binding protein with the ability to modulate transcription of several genes containing the Pur element in their promoter region. Human and mouse Purโฃ exhibit an extraordinary degree of conservation with only two changes at amino acid residue
