In the course of our present, investigations on the mechanism of stress-corrosion cracking, several i~te~est~g facts regarding failure, and also resistance to failure, of Cr-Ni-Fe stainless steels in boiling 42 per cent MgCl, test solution have been uncovered which we are reporting at this time. We

β¦ Synopsis
The SCC behavior of Fe-8.7A1-29.7Mn-1.04C alloy in a 20% sodium-chloride solution (100 "C) has been investigated by the slow strain rate method. The results showed that the alloy was susceptible to SCC only at the free corrosion potential and at the applied strain rate of 2.8 x lO-'/s. Application of the cathodic potential during the siow strain rate test resulted in the loss of ductility in the alloy which was attributed to the hydrogen induced cracking.

## Abstract The stress corrosion cracking behaviour of 7075 (AlβZnβMgβCu) alloy have been studied in a salt spray fog chamber with two vapourised aqueous solutions (0 and 5% NaCl). The paper analyses the stress corrosion resistance of 7075 aluminium alloy with several precipitationβageing heat trea
A fracture mechanics approach to stress corrosion cracking is highlighted. The mechanisms of stress corrosion cracking is presented. Experiments on 2024 and 7075 aluminium alloys are carried out to determine their mechanical properties, microstructure and plane strain fracture toughness (K,,). Stres
