Abstract
The dependence of uptake of Al(CH~3~)~3~ by solid TiCl~3~ on the surface area of the latter has been studied. A βstep reactionβ technique permits the investigation of the stoichiometry of the reaction at different degrees of advancement, the amount of chlorine abstracted from the TiCl~3~ being taken as the advancement parameter.
Methane evolution and aluminum and carbon fixation on the solid phase appear to be linearly related to this parameter and the slopes of the respective lines are taken as significant parameters from which the stoichiometry of the reaction is deduced.
