## Abstract The structures of the fungal sideramines ferrichrysine and ferricrocine have been determined with the exception of their amino‐acid sequence. They are iron complexes of cyclic hexapeptides composed of 3 mols. δ‐N‐acetyl‐δ‐N‐hydroxy‐ornithine, 2 mols serine and 1 mol. glycine (ferrichrys

Abstract
The fungal siderochromes ferrirhodine, ferrirubine and ferrichrome A possess the same cyclic hexapeptide skeleton as ferrichrysine, composed of 3 mols. δ‐N‐hydroxyornithine, 2 mols. serine, and 1 mol. glycine, with unknown, but identical amino‐acid sequence. The δ‐nitrogen atoms of the ornithine residues are linked with carboxylic acid residues to hydroxamate groups which from stable complexes with 3‐valent iron. The carboxylic acid residues are: cis‐5‐hydroxy‐3‐methyl‐2‐pentenoic acid in ferrirhodine, its trans isomer in ferrirubine, and trans‐β‐methyl‐glutaconic acid in ferrichrome A.
