✦ Synopsis

The chelating diamide complexes (BDAPIZr-(NMed2 (21, (BDAP)ZrClz(pyh (4), (BDAP)ZrR2 (5a, R = CH2Ph; 5b, R = Me), (BDAP) Zr(l;15-Cp)C1 (5c), and(BDAP)Zr(rl2(N,C)-NC5H4)(CH2CMe2Ph) (5d) (BDAP = ArNCH2CH2CHJLAr; Ar = 2,6-iPr~-Cd-€3) have been prepared. An X-ray study of (BDAP)Zrf$(N,C)-NC5H4)-( CH2CMe2Ph) (5d) revealed an q2-pyridyl moiety bound to zirconium. Proton and carbon NMR data suggest that the pyridyl moiety in 5d is rotating rapidly about the Zr-C bond on the N M R time scale.
