Sr 2 BN 2 I crystallizes with the monoclinic symmetry P2 /m (No. 11) with a ؍ 10.284(7) A s , b ؍ 4.224(3) A s , c ؍ 13.246(9) A s , ؍ 90.87(6)°, Z ؍ 4, and V ؍ 575.3(7) A s 3 . The structure is built from isolated BN 3؊ 2 anions and quite distorted Sr 6 I octahedra.
