Replacement of N 2 by CO in H 2 + 02 + N 2 mixtures undergoing slow reaction at 500°C causes a marked increase in the reaction rate and a decrease in the induction period, expressed as the time to half maximum rate. A detailed interpretation using a computer treatment gives k24/klo 1/2 = 0.42 ± 0.03
