Sor$tion heats of volatiles on sowac cowa~one~zts of foodstufls

By means of gas chromatography the sorption heats of gz-pentane, acetom ethyl acetate and ethanol on glucose, lactose, sucrose, and sodium chloride have bee determined (with some exceptions) in the presence of dry helium, wet helium, an' dry air as carrier gases. For the sugars, values of 5-19 kcal/mole have been found. The are attributed to physical adsorption. For acetone on sodium chloride, values of 17-2 kcal/mole (dry) and 3g kcal/mole (wet) have been found, on potassium bromide 2 and 31 kcal/mole, resp. They are attributed to another type of sorption, possibl: chemisorption.
