To design equipment and facilities to process &&Iru'', an important food-#avouring condiment made from locust bean seeds, some of the physical properties of the seeds were determined. At a moisture content of 6)42% d.b., the average length, width and thickness of locust bean were 10)80, 8)42 and 4)6

✦ Synopsis
Several physical properties of lentil seed were evaluated as a function of moisture content . The average diameter , thickness , unit mass and volume of seed were 6 и 64 mm , 2 и 65 mm , 0 и 070 g and 49 и 08 mm 3 respectively at 6 и 5% m . c . d . b . Studies on rewetted seed showed that as moisture content increased from 6 и 5 to 32 и 6% d . b ., bulk density decreased from 1190 to 935 kg / m 3 , porosity increased from 27 и 4 to 32 и 0% , projected area increased from 56 to 82 mm 2 and terminal velocity increased from 10 и 95 to 12 и 06 m / s .
The static and dynamic coef ficients of friction of lentil seed against galvanized sheet metal , plywood and rubber surfaces increased with moisture content in the range from 6 и 5 to 32 и 6% d . b . The largest coef ficient of friction was against a rubber surface , ranging from 0 и 374 to 0 и 532 . The ef fect of moisture content was as

The study was undertaken to determine the physical properties of guna seeds as a function of moisture content. The seeds tend to be #at and oval in shape. At the moisture content of 4)7% d.b., measurements yielded an average 1000 seed weight of 0)041 kg, major axis of 8)80 mm, intermediate axis of 5
Physical properties of sunflower seeds and kernels were evaluated as a function of moisture content .
