✦ Synopsis

The solvent effect on changes in cntbalpy and entropy of mokcuktr equilibria is discussed. General relations, describing enthalpy and entropy changes of molecuhr equilibria. are proposed after assuming a form for the free-encrgst dependence on solvent polarity. A special case of the relations is derived from Onsager's dipole reaction field modeL These considerations show that the cnthalpy and entropy changes of molecular equilibria can be defined in vartrious ways and two extreme approaches arc examined.
