✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Isotropic Raman line broadening studies were carried out for the CO stretching mode of vibration in N,N‐dimethylformamide and cyclohexanone molecules in solution. The broadening for the Raman band is explained on the basis of hydrodynamic, multipole‐multipole, induction and dispersion forces. The intercept on the linear graph [Γ~iso~ vs f(ρ, η, n)] is explained on the basis of induction forces and multipole interactions for dipolar and non‐dipolar solvents.
