โฆ Synopsis
y first year as President of the American Peptide Society (APS) is coming to a close, and I'd like to discuss the current state of the Society. The APS was built on a rich history of scientific excellence and personal interactions. The Society has overseen numerous successful symposia, provided support for the travel of young scientists, and developed a peptidebased journal (Biopolymers: Peptide Science) that captures the best research that the field has to offer. The Society is on excellent financial ground, and will be further investing in the support of young scientists, the presentation of peptide science at large symposia, and the preservation of peptide science history.
Today, scientists are faced with the overriding question of why should one be interested in society membership. There are many choices of societies and meetings. The APS has strived to make membership very beneficial, as described above. Let's keep the current membership active, encourage more young investigators and scientists to become members of the APS, and, for the former members, let's renew! Sincerely,
