Scatt e r i n g curves c a l c u l a t e d f o r spheres w i t h a step-model r a d i a l e l e c t r o n d e n s i t y d i s t r i b u t i o n , show good agreement w i t h t h e experimental s c a t t e r i n g c u r v e f o r HDL2 o n l y f o r s p e c i f i c v a l u e s o f t h e s t e p f u n c t i o n used. The dimensions o b t a i n e d f o r t h e e l e c t r o n -d e f i c i e n t c o r e and e l e c t r o n -r i c h s h e l l model a r e q u a n t it a t i v e l y c o n s i s t e n t w i t h a p r e d o m i n a n t l y s u r f a c e l o c a t i o n f o r t h e HDL2 p r o t e i n and p h o s p h o l i p i d head groups, t h e more hydrocarbon species b e i n g l o c a t e d i n t h e i n t e r i o r of t h e p a r t i c l e .
