โœฆ Synopsis

The evolutions of the planar and axisymmetric vortex sheets generated by the impulsive motion of a cylinder and a sphere, respectively, are compared numerically. The numerical method addresses difficulties that occur in the axisymmetric case near the axis of symmetry. The planar vortex sheet is known to develop a branch point singularity in finite time. Comparison of the planar and axisymmetric solutions indicates that the axisymmetric sheet develops a branch point singularity as well, and that it is of the same order p as the planar singularity. The value of p is consistent with 3/2.

## Abstract The ion acoustic soliton has been investigated in spherical and cylindrical geometry in a warm plasma having two electron components each described by a Boltzmann distribution. It has been shown that both potential hump and potential dip are possible in this case.

A particle method is presented for computing vortex sheet motion in three-dimensional flow. The particles representing the sheet are advected by a regularized Biot-Savart integral in which the exact singular kernel is replaced by the Rosenhead-Moore kernel. New particles are inserted to maintain res

## Abstract A numerical analysis for the assessment of wrinkle formation tendencies in sheet metals is presented. A doublyโ€curved thin shell element under biaxial plane stress states is considered, and the critical stress values for wrinkling are determined. The analysis is based on plastic bifurca
