โฆ Synopsis
Intense smglet-triplet transihons are observed for saturated hydrocarbons when they are excited by impact of low-energy
(5-15 eV) electrons. Excitation spectra are presented for methane, ethane, cyclopropane, and cyclooctane.

Low-energy (O-5 V above threshold) electron-impact excitation spectra and a trarismission spectrum are presented for acetylene. it is found that excitation via temporary negative ions plays a domimnt role. Assignments are suggested for the observed electronic excitation processes.
Electronic excitation by low energy electron impact has been \ludied for 1,3,5-trarfs-hexatriene. At = 4.2 cV. 3 weak absorption is observed. On the basis of the results of semi-empirical calculations this absorption can be assigned to the second triplet state.
A mixture of cis and tram 1,3,5-hcxatricne has been studied by electron impact at incident electron energies of 20 cV, 40 eV, 50 eV. and 70 eV, at scattering angles from 0" to 80", and with effective energy resolutions in the range from 0.05 eV to 0.15 PV. Electron-impact-induced luminescence was measured for benzaldehyde at low vapor pressure\_ Phosphorescence bands from the zero-point level of T1 were observed at 397.427, and 460 nm. The pressure dependence of the phosphorescence decay rate was found to be essentially the same as that obtained by op
