โœฆ Synopsis

Low-energy (O-5 V above threshold) electron-impact excitation spectra and a trarismission spectrum are presented for acetylene. it is found that excitation via temporary negative ions plays a domimnt role. Assignments are suggested for the observed electronic excitation processes.

The excitation spectra of 1.3.5-cycloheptatriene and 1,3,5.7 cycle-octatetraene have been measured with low energy electron impact spectroscopy. The results are discussed on the basis of quantumchemical calculations. The interaction of low energy electrons and single molecules is an important sour

Electronic excitation by low energy electron impact has been \ludied for 1,3,5-trarfs-hexatriene. At = 4.2 cV. 3 weak absorption is observed. On the basis of the results of semi-empirical calculations this absorption can be assigned to the second triplet state.

Intense smglet-triplet transihons are observed for saturated hydrocarbons when they are excited by impact of low-energy (5-15 eV) electrons. Excitation spectra are presented for methane, ethane, cyclopropane, and cyclooctane.
