β¦ Synopsis
Previous models of medical diagnosis as a sequential decision process have assumed that there is a single decision maker whose values are maximized. The model presented here assumes that there are two or more decision makers, e.g., physician and patient, who engage in a series of cooperative games to jointly maximize their utilities. Myopic structure is assumed at each decision point. A pilot application to valvular heart disease is presented.
